Michael Silva, the president and founder of FOUNDATIONperformance, is a physical therapist, exercise physiologist, and certified strength and conditioning specialist. He has over 9 years of experience in training and creating exercise programs for people of all levels, and over 7 years of experience in the rehabilitation of sports/orthopedic injuries,
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's degree in exercise science, and the University of Massachusetts with a Master's degree in physical therapy, Michael is considered a skilled professional in his field.
Michael has been a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 1996, and has been personal training since 1994. He has worked with hundreds of clients and athletes at the high school, collegiate, Olympic, and professional levels.
Michael’s expertise and interests have made him a sought after clinician and consultant in the competitive running world through out New England. He has worked with runners associated with the Irish National Olympic team, Brown University, Providence College, Stonehill College, Wheaton College, Boston Athletic Association, and more. He is the strength & conditioning and rehabilitation consultant for the Leukemia and lymphoma society’s “Team in Training” RI chapter. He has consulted for dozens of organizations and schools including Stonehill College, Mansfield High school, Bishop Hendriken High school, Oliver Ames High School, LaSalle Academy, HealthTrax Fitness & Wellness Clubs, TeamRI (triathlon group), and Rhode Island Rhode Runners (running group).
As well as his clinical work, and his consulting Michael writes for two triathlon websites: beginnertriathlete.com, and ontri.com. and offers free instructional seminars on a variety of topics.
The body is the foundation to physical performance; is the basis of Michael's teachings. No matter what the activity: golf, running, football or work, your performance is a function of your body's capabilities. This concept has lead to the creation of FOUNDATIONperformance. Although goals differ from individual to individual the mission of FOUNDATIONperformance is the same -- to educate and train people functionally and safely to improve their performance in sport and in life.
Carla Silva, MS, PT

Carla is a physical therapist, exercise physiologist, and group exercise leader. She has a 9 year history in the fitness field and 7 years of experience in sports/orthopedic rehabilitation. In 1996 Carla graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology. She then went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1999. It was here that she earned a clinical excellence award for her work in the field. Carla brings tremendous hands on skills as well as impressive exercise techniques to all her clients.
Carla's devotion to her career and her devotion to a healthy lifestyle allows her to lead by example. She has been competing in triathlons for over 4 years and has been an aerobics instructor since 1995 (Carla spent time training with the Reebok step aerobics team). Since having her first child on May24, 2003 Carla and her husband Michael have devoted their time their family at home and their family at FOUNDATIONperformance.
Christine Braga, MS, PT
Christine pursued a career that combined her ambition of helping others and her pursuit of physical well-being. In 1996 Christine graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology. In her final year she earned the award for clinical excellence for her work in cardiac rehabilitation. Christine then went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1999. She has been practicing in the field ever since.
Christine's background in exercise physiology and her skills as an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist have allowed her to become proficient in using exercise as a powerful preventative and rehabilitative tool. Her belief in the importance of exercise as a lifestyle choice is demonstrated by her dedication to her own physical fitness.
Jay Moran
Jay is a certified personal trainer, spin instructor, and track & feild coach. He has 10 years of experience in personal training, coaching, and group exercise instruction. Jay, like the rest of the Fp team, leads by example. Jay has been competing in triathlons for 4 years, and is about to compete in his second IRONman competition. Jay takes a very skilled and functional aproach to his exercise programs, and his classes.

Bill Nadeau, Nutritionist
Bill Nadeau is currently a sports nutritionist for FOUNDATIONperformance and Trismarter.com. He is also becoming a regular contributor of sports nutrition articles to insidetri.com and trifuel.com. He resides in Brookline, MA.
Bill earned a Bachelor of Science from Bowdoin College in 1998 and a Masters of Science from the University of New Hampshire in microbiology in 2001. Currently, Bill is pursuing his second Masters in nutrition at Boston University and will become credentialed as a Registered Dietitian.
Bill has competed regularly for the past 16 years in cross-country, track and field, and road racing. He was a member of the two-time New England Championship team in high school and was a 12-time individual Connecticut All-State track runner. In college, he served as a team captain of the Bowdoin College Division III national qualifying team, and as a member of the BAA, he has a 3k PR of 8:51, half marathon PR of 1:15 (Philadelphia), and marathon PR of 2:50 (Philadelphia). He is currently training for the 2007 Chicago marathon.
Bill brings experience as a sports nutritionist and an endurance athlete to the nutrition field. He aims to provide individualized and detailed nutritional counseling to athletes and performers as they strive to maximize their athletic potential while enjoying a wholesome diet and leading a healthy lifestyle.
